Synopsis:
A Virginia farmer tries to remain neutral as the Civil War rages around him, but the war comes to him when Union soldiers take his son prisoner.
Impressions:
This is a somewhat rare Civil War movie in that it features politically neutral protagonists and portrays neither the Union nor the Confederacy in a one-sided light. It's something of a less grim version of The Searchers. There's some humor in the dialog and the character dynamics are fairly interesting. If you want a Civil War movie that's not about lionizing the Union or romanticizing the South, give this one a shot.
