Impressions:
I really like this movie. Personally, I hate smoking, but it's a testament to the writing and Aaron Eckhart's performance that I'm rooting for Nick Naylor. This is a funny, intelligent movie that takes good writing, good characters and good performances across the board to deliver a home run. I like the power trio of Eckhart, Maria Bello and David Koecher as the MOD Squad and William H Macy as Naylor's chief opponent, the awkward Senator Finistirre, who gets one of the best lines in the movie. I'll also credit Cameron Bright in his role as Joey Naylor, as much for his performance as the interesting father-son dynamic that adds another layer to the story. Nods to the smaller but memorable roles by Robert Duvall and Sam Elliott as well. This is a movie well worth seeing and if you have a slightly bent sense of humor, you'll get quite a kick out of it.
