Impressions:
Much as the Maze Runner series sapped my interest when we took our characters out of Bad Scenario A and put them into Bad Scenario B, the Divergent series didn't manage to keep me engaged when we moved on to an obviously worse situation but still jerked around by an obviously paper-thin premise that things had gotten better. The drone tech is kinda interesting and Jeff Daniels isn't bad as David, but that's about all the praise I can give the film. There was some novelty value to the original premise of the series and I would've been content to be left hanging after Insurgent because what lies beyond is disappointing. I guess if you're strongly invested in the series, you may want to give it a watch, but I don't find much point in it. Pass on it.
