Stagecoach (1986)

Stagecoach (1986)

Director: Ted Post
Starring: Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash

Synopsis:
Remake of the classic 1939 John Ford Western about a stagecoach traveling through Apache territory.

Impressions:
You may be wondering, "Why remake Stagecoach?" Well, the same can be asked of most any remake. Probably if you didn't have the original to compare it to, this would be a decent though not particularly outstanding Western. However, while it pales in comparison to the original, I did like Johnny Cash as Curly. Willie Nelson doesn't make a plausible Doc Holliday and his soapboxing gets a little tired but otherwise he's not bad. If you took away the Doc Holliday name, it would've been fine. Kris Kristofferson is okay as Ringo but doesn't have John Wayne's charisma. You might find it worth checking out, but it's a mixed bag and you won't be missing much if you skip it.
