The Andromeda Strain (1971)

Director: Robert Wise
Starring: James Olson, Arthur Hill, David Wayne
Synopsis:
A team of scientists is assembled to combat an alien virus before it can spread.
Impressions:
I want to call this a thriller, but it moves at a fairly slow pace, so you really don't get your blood pumping too much until the climax. If you like the sort of science thrillers Michael Crichton is known for, this is a pretty straight adaptation. You're not going to see the big theatricality of Jurassic Park, but if you like watching scientists work out a problem, you may enjoy yourself. General audiences may find it rather dull, though. There is a bit of snark in the dialog that adds to the entertainment value. It's really a movie fit for a fairly specific audience, so if you're expecting a rollercoaster ride, look elsewhere. If you're willing to be patient, though, you may like it.
