The Big Clock (1948)

Director: John Farrow
Starring: Ray Milland, Maureen O'Sullivan, Charles Laughton
Synopsis:
When a publisher murders his mistress, he sets up the editor of his crime magazine to take the fall for him.
Impressions:
How would you like to be heading an investigation where all the signs point to you? Unlike some stories, where the investigator is actually guilty and tries to sabotage the investigation to save his own skin, here our lead is actually innocent, but what he has to do and the tension it creates is just as strong. Ray Milland and Charles Laughton are solid and I found Elsa Lanchester as the ditsy artist to be rather funny too. It's also interesting seeing Harry Morgan in one of his younger roles. This is a pretty good film and I recommend it.
