The Bourne Legacy (2012)

Director: Tony Gilroy
Starring: Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton
Synopsis:
An operative in Treadstone's successor finds himself targeted for termination when Jason Bourne's activities prompt the CIA to clear out its black ops programs.
Impressions:
It's reasonable to be concerned about a Bourne sequel without either Matt Damon or director Paul Greengrass, but screenwriter Tony Gilroy takes the helm and keeps it consistent in tone and look to the other films of the series. You may find the chemical enhancement aspect of Project Outcome to be less grounded in reality than prior entries and whether this is an issue or not is up to you. Jeremy Renner is good in the lead role. I like to joke that this is the Hawkeye origin movie and you may actually get extra entertainment value by thinking of it this way. Rachel Weisz is decent and thankfully more than just a neutral female as Dr. Shearing. There is good action as well, especially the chase sequence in Manila. Personally, I think it's a decent entry into the series, but dedicated fans may think otherwise.
