Impressions:
It may or may not be surprising that I haven't had much exposure to Stephen King's works, either in print or adaptations. I actually decided to watch this movie before I knew about the source or that it was directed by George Romero. Now, while I haven't seen that much of King's stuff, I'm fairly familiar with some of his pet tropes and this really does feel like something of his. For those of you who are King fans, this is a good thing and you probably don't need any encouragement from me to go see it. I like the premise of a writer squaring off with his alter ego. Timothy Hutton does an impressive job pulling double duty as Thad Beaumont and George Stark. For fans of Guardians of the Galaxy, note that Michael Rooker (Yondu) plays the sheriff, which is neat. It's a pretty good movie blending some elements of thriller and horror. Give it a watch.
